Build Your Personal IP Journey Roadmap
Four questions about what you've created, where you are, who you are and what you want — answered with a prioritised sequence of milestones, each with its reasoning, the free tool that helps, and the right next step.
Decision map last reviewed: 2026-08-24. The roadmap is a transparent, rule-based guide — every milestone displays the reason it appears.
What this tool does
The roadmap is a decision map, not an AI oracle. Your four answers select and order milestones from a reviewed library — confidentiality first for undisclosed inventions, name-strength checks before trademark filings, renewal timelines for existing portfolios, institutional routing for university work. Each milestone explains why it appears for your combination, so you can disagree intelligently.
Who it is for
First-time inventors, founders, SME owners, creators, researchers and institutions — anyone who knows they have something worth protecting but not what order to do things in. If you already manage a mature portfolio with counsel, the Deadline Tracker and Health Check will serve you better directly.
What it deliberately does not do
The roadmap does not identify every right that could exist in your situation, does not analyse your specific facts, and cannot see conflicts, prior art or existing registrations. It sequences well-established general steps. Where a step depends on facts — and filing decisions always do — the roadmap says so and points to the professional consultation where those facts get examined.
Roadmap FAQ
How the roadmap works
Where do my answers go?
Nowhere. The decision map runs entirely in your browser. If you leave mid-way, your progress is kept only in your browser's local storage, and the "Clear my answers" button removes it completely.
Why does it ask who I am?
Ownership and routing change with your role. A researcher's invention is usually governed by an institutional IP policy; a community product may fit the GI system; a founder needs assignment paperwork that an individual doesn't. The role answer adds or removes exactly those milestones.
What if my answers contradict each other?
The roadmap checks for combinations that don't make sense — like managing renewals for an idea that isn't registered — and asks you to adjust an answer instead of producing a misleading result.
Can I change one answer without starting over?
Yes. The result screen lists your four answers with a change link on each — changing one recalculates the roadmap and keeps the other three.
Why does it link to other websites?
IP Saarthi is part of the MYCrave network, where each site owns one job. When a milestone needs the government fee calculator, the Patents Act itself, or institutional IP Cell guidance, we link to the sibling site that owns that tool rather than rebuilding a weaker copy here.
